Well, here we are at a fresh new year…! I know I’ve been blogging for almost 2 months now, but probably never really gave much reason behind it all. So I’ll clue you in on a little secret- I’ve been plotting and planning this whole thing out in my head for 3 years; three long years of turning it over and over and wondering if it’s meant to be and will it really work…? I’ve come to the grand conclusion that I will never know if I don’t try so I’m just gonna yank the cord and see if she’ll run…!

I have vowed to do all I can with this blog and business to glorify God with it and return a portion of any profits he gives me back to him. I have a meager budget and humble photography skills. But I am determined to get up, get out, get going and start something. That’s all God really asks us anyway- just start- and if we’re operating in His will and for His cause, he’ll finish it.

Zechariah 4:10- Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.

It occurred to me after reading this verse and accompanying story in the bible that nothing we do in God’s name is insignificant. WE don’t have to build the whole temple or the whole wall to make a difference; we must be simply willing to start the work. Start with what you have. Come as you are. God will bless the rest and multiply your efforts oftentimes. He is blessed when you simply start…!

I chose the name Recollected Design because it made me think of going and collecting cast off things that had once been cherished, but maybe now are a little worn. Maybe on their own they’re not much to look at anymore, but spiff them up and combine them with something else and then, well then you’ve really got something good..!

Just like how it is when we find new life in Christ. We go from nothing to something really special, God’s daughters and sons.
