I’m told i am a sheep– and I have a great Shepherd to prove it…
But truth be told, I act a lot more like a pack mule sometimes…
Oh so stubborn…
“Why yes i would rather make one trip with 37 Food Lion bags full of groceries loaded up on both arms than to have to walk the hill back to the car again”…
My rally cry is too often ‘I got this!’ …even when I know I really don’t…
I pile up junk in my stubborn little mule saddlebags like I’m going on a 6 month long world tour- collecting responsibilities, guilt, emotions, cookies and distractions… Although the cookies really go into a different set of saddlebags… like my thighs…
BUT, I’m a sheep…! It’s been reinforced almost every day this week in every devotion I’ve read and every verse I’ve happened across…{I’m listening Lord..! You now have my full attention..!}… and sheep aren’t meant to carry loads – tell me have you ever heard of a ‘pack sheep’? Ever seen a sheep saddle?? Nope… they’re just not built for carrying much of anything but their own wool…just as we aren’t meant to carry our own burdens.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. ~ Matthew 11:29-30
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. ~ 1 Peter 5:6-7
Doesn’t that make you wanna ditch the mule with all his trappings and come on over to the sheep side of things…?
My Savior is stronger than me. He bore everyone’s burdens through his death so why am i still hauling around all this trivial stuff?
Cast all your cares on him.
Exchange them for peace.
And Jesus will carry YOU instead.

Heather, this is great. You aren’t a mule but probably work like one at times. I already knew you were a sheep spiritually. I once bought 50 sheep for our farm just so I could know all about them and some of being a shepherd. I learned a lot of both. Have a great weekend, a long one I hope, and continue listening to our Shepherd.😀😀
