Where Have You Been…?

…. or rather where have I been?? Look at you- it’s been so long and you’ve gotten so tall…! Good to see you back here! {… it feels like weeks since I’ve written but in reality it’s only been a few days…}

I wish I could say I’ve been on a wonderful vacation… or out doing something fun but the truth is I started to clean out my sewing area/dining room/kitchen and got overtaken by all the junk. OK, not literally, but maybe figuratively. I did start moving furniture and purging stuff and then I got a little lost, a little too focused on all the wrong and not enough of the right, started feeling a little down and then got sacked with a fever and a cold. Life kicked me in the rear and sickness had me down allll last week. I am sensing a theme this year…

And since cold medicine and a stuffy head doesn’t lend itself well to writing anything that makes sense, I stayed quiet here on the blog.

But as I watched a truckload of  “I Love Lucy” re-runs and sipped ginger ale and hunkered down on the couch {again…} I was met by a lot of simple truths that helped me fight the funk and the sickness and struggle through to the land of the living again. {my apologies to my sweet husband who is dealing with this evil bug now… at home… on the couch…}

Stop comparing your own accomplishments {or in my case lack thereof} to other people’s accomplishments and start focusing just on what God has in mind for you. ~Whitney Hopler, Crosswalk {emphasis mine}

God is creating something new with-in me even though everything feels dreadfully the same……. In the beginning God created and here in the middle He hasn’t stopped…….. The believers say our hope is in Jesus whether life is hard or life is good, releasing the right to predict the future, holding onto God who comes to be with us now.

~ Emily Freeman

Keep on asking, and you will be given what you ask for. Keep on looking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And the door is opened to everyone who knocks.

~ Matthew 7:7-8

Prayer trumps Panic every time.  ~Rachel Wojnarowski

Psalm 62– every last word…

The alternative to trust is stress. ~ Cindi McMenamin

The word gave life to everything that was created and His life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness can never extinguish it. ~ John 1:4-5

God wants us to face facts not feelings. ~Mrs. Charles Cowman

The fact is that it’s so much easier to hand over all the reigns to the one who put the stars in the sky and planned my whole existence anyway – this beautiful, messy life that I live out daily. I don’t need to hold my breath or my plans so tightly.

It’s so easy to let feelings overwhelm me sometimes. If I could process information without the emotion as my best girl says I’d be a whole lot better off some days!

And sometimes perfectionism rears it’s ugly mug and I have to remember that I will not get it right the first time every time {or at all sometimes}… Life is a continual refining process. A honing of a craft. Living and learning and loving.

But even by all accounts when circumstances feel bleak, the fact of salvation should bring glorious joy…

Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vine; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, 18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation. 19 The Sovereign LORD is my strength! He will make me as surefooted as a deer and bring me safely over the mountains.

~Habakkuk  3:17-19

So I exhale into a new week. A new perspective. A new season.

Where have you been lately?

Happy Tuesday my deer dears!
