The Gift of Being Made New…

I could take this theme and run with it six different ways from Sunday… Re-purposing- which is right up my alley, shopping smarter (goodwill!!) not harder at the holidays or any time of year really, grace & forgiveness, being born again, reclaimed, reworked, and recreated…

But I’ll start with this:

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.

~ 2 Corinthians 5:17-18

We are born again into a new person when we accept Jesus Christ as our savior and confess his name above all others. Some days we may need a little do-over though. The milk spills and we cry. The babies scream and we answer right back. The hope that settled in so cozily yesterday seems so fleeting today. Being re-made daily is nothing to be ashamed of. Nothing to feel guilty about.

There’s always a renewal process happening. Just look at nature as it grows and changes.

There is always forgiveness waiting to be extended

What a gift.

God has given us the greatest gift of life! The life we call our own (though we know it’s really his…!) and that of his son who he sent to earth for us and because of him we can have eternal life- if that’s not cause for being joyful, I don’t know what is!

I get that the holidays can sometimes be hard and the flesh may be willing but the spirit is weak… Can I share this post with you? Or this one? I don’t know about you, but I want to live out this Christmas season and all year with a new spirit. A right spirit. Focusing on the important things and forsaking all the fluff. Growing and being made new daily all in an effort to glorify my God.

For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].

~Ephesians 2:10, Amplified Bible

Is there a way you need to be made new today? How can I pray for you?
