Wise Men (and Women) Still Seek Him

I find myself often looking for something…

to eat, make, design…

something I put down and don’t remember where…

the next big thing…

more time…!

I stumbled on these verses again the other day… of course while I was looking for another verse… and they jumped at me…funny how that can happen sometimes… even when we’re not looking…!

Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking,  “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We have seen his star as it arose, and we have come to worship him.” ~ Matthew 2:1-2

I know I’ve read this story sooo many times but what jumped out at me was the fact that the wise men saw the star “as it arose”. Which to me means that they were clued in and *looking* for it…watching and waiting so they wouldn’t miss it…  Not just in their spare time… not just when they felt like it… They didn’t just look up and one day it wasn’t there and the next day it was… It was a constant search… a state of life… Otherwise they would have missed the star rising.

Shouldn’t we be looking for and to Jesus in the same way? Constantly expectant in our hope and security that only comes from seeking Him? I’ll admit I don’t always look for Him and his way first- being human it’s far easier to complain, but I’m learning through seeking Him, he can always re-frame our situations and he’s never far away.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart”. ~ Jeremiah 29:13

Wise men looked for Jesus thousands of years ago and didn’t miss the sign of his coming. Women (and men) who are wise will do the same today. He’s eager to be found if we just keep looking. I know I don’t want to miss it..!
