I ♥ Owls…

My sweet husband has an owl lamp from his teenage days that is gloriously kitschy. It’s brown with painted eyes and feathers and the whole nine yards… He has lovingly carried it from house to house and I think it’s awesome. However, I think it would be more awesome if he’d let me spray paint it white..!

Currently we are still in negotiations and strangely I haven’t seen that little owl lamp in a while…

Did I ever tell you how he proposed? Well it was on this very date back in 2010…

The three of us, me, him and the boy, had spent all day together watching the Daytona 500, eating popcorn with snow caps and playing debit card Monopoly. We really are simple folk..!

Much later that night after the loooong red flagged race restarted and finally finished, I was presented with a box of chocolate pecan turtles (my favorite..!) and written on the box was “will you marry me?” This was followed up swiftly with the presentation of the ring- a family heirloom that was way too big and needed sizing, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way..! You know my love for vintage…!

Six months after sizing that ring, we sealed the deal in a sweet and simple ceremony on our back porch…
