We Don’t Fear Change…

So I showed you a little while ago the state of the dining room/work space….right?

And we all felt claustrophobic……

and then I moved some stuff…

well really I moved alllll the stuff….

as in nothing in that space is even remotely in the same place anymore….

and half my house suffered for it and some furniture was sacrificed for the cause…. {the cause of not feeling like the room was closing in on me when I had piles of fabric and multiple slipcovers to sew….}

Long ago and far away, I had a craft room– yep a whole room — with a closet–!!!– to spread out and junk up to my heart’s content… but I gave it up for a good cause….

So 4 years later I’m still getting used to fitting my 5 pounds of stuff into a 2 pound bag…err…room… and I took over our dining area… and now we can all look at fabric when we eat…yaay! Well…truth be told we only eat here on Christmas….or Thanksgiving…. and maybe some birthdays… so it was fair game…!

Behold this month’s arrangement…

I feel somewhat lighter now…. how bout you? Supplies were combined, furniture was demoted (i know i know I got rid of bookshelves… what is wrong with me…!) and pretty things were hung on the wall….!

So far it’s working out well, but remember if you live here, all spaces are subject to change…! This may be why the boy won’t let me in his room anymore, he’s afraid I’ll move his furniture…!

{Likes} fabric is visible but still covered, paper and not so pretty supplies are behind closed doors, sewing supplies are at an arms reach right behind me as I’m sewing, roll around cart* gives me a little extra mobile workspace if the need arises…! (*watch out little cart because as soon as it gets warm again, I think I’m spray painting you red…!)

Moral of the story: Never let your stuff get in the way of your people. Sacrifices are good things- sometimes you get the most unexpected gifts from them…! Don’t forget to share and don’t give up! And keep on tweaking until you find what works for you! After all, we are all just works in progress…!
