Papers, Prayers and Parking Lots

… I have an affinity for alliteration.. can ya tell??

There are lots of lists happening lately (ok that one just came out unplanned…!) and prayers going up and around and I’m hoping progress is just around the corner in a lot of areas of life. Yesterday as I stood in the parking lot pumping gas, there was something so pretty about the clouds that I just had to take a picture. It was like a promise in the middle of that ho hum activity that the really exciting stuff was yet to come…

sooc watermarked bp parking lotLike writing this blog..! Never did I see all those years ago writing those dreaded research papers in high school that I’d end up doing something like this as fun..!  Back then I got myself through it by figuring out how to make it into an art form. I’d collect my pages of facts written out from encyclopedias (remember them??) books and the internet, then gather all my highlighters and go to town categorizing everything in a rainbow of colors.  Each group of colored particulars got reorganized and checked off as they fell into neat orderly paragraphs. {By the way, I really wish stuff in our lives fell together that easily, pretty and planned! But I know there’s always a reason for the mess…}

sepia watermarked bp parking lotI don’t really employ the same writing techniques anymore… Maybe it’s the presence of computers and the absence of pen and paper- although I do have notebooks of quotes and ideas and schedules all written out in my wonky half cursive half print hybrid style of chicken scratch handwriting…  Now a days writing feels more like a brain dump and sometimes on my best days, I’m lucky if it’s logical and consistent. Cut and paste has overtaken color coding as I proof read my 25 editing attempts before I hit publish looking for coherency and typos. I’m sure some still slip by but y’all really are champs for hanging in there… !

Some days it feels like the best stuff has already been said so the most honorable thing I can do is pull it together and wrap it all up into a somewhat neat package and hope that it inspires you as much as it has me…

Do small things with GREAT Love. ~ Mother Teresa

The measure of Success is not whether you have a tough problem to deal with BUT whether it is the Same problem you had last year. ~ John Foster Dulles

Jesus never taught his disciples how to preach, only how to PRAY. ~ Andrew Murray

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought ALWAYS to pray, and not to faint. ~ Luke 18:1

How long shall we pray? Pray until the thing you pray for has actually been granted or until you have the ASSURANCE in your heart that it will be. ~L.B. Cowman

There are only TWO ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a MIRACLE. ~ Unknown

{disclaimer: yes those are all the same picture…no you’re not seeing things…! As I was editing, I couldn’t decide which picture to use… So I’m sharing them all… which one is your favorite? I’d love to know!}

    Great post. I really like what you said ” in the middle of the ho-hum stuff the best is yet to come”. I believe this is true in a lot of different ways. Thanks for your post. I hope you don’t mind I posted your prayer quotes on my Facebook page.

      Not at all! They’re meant to be shared : ) Thanks for the feedback! That was a straight up unedited line and you’re right it has multiple meanings that I didn’t stop to consider until just now! Have a great day!
